The Chevy Silverado 1500 is perfect for light-duty tasks around Sacramento. But how much space do you want in the cab? Depending on which of the Chevy Silverado cab configurations you want, the interior room, features, and space will vary. The two largest cab options are the Double Cab and the Crew Cab. Both seat five to six passengers for long drives around Woodland. However, you’ll still find there is a difference between the Chevy Silverado Crew Cab and Double Cab. Since you can only have one cab on your new vehicle, Hanlees Davis Chevrolet has crafted this guide to help you decide between the two most popular Chevy Silverado cab configurations.

2024 Chevy Silverado Cab Configurations: Seating & Dimensions

When looking at seating capacity, you’ll find there’s a difference between the Chevy Silverado Crew Cab and Double Cab. They both seat up to five or six passengers, perfect for a family or work crew. But the small differences between these cabs amount to the space your passengers will get as you traverse Dixon. The most dramatic one is the higher amount of second-row legroom between both Chevy Silverado cab configurations. Compare the size difference between the Chevy Silverado Crew Cab and Double Cab here:

Chevy Silverado Cab Configurations & Bed Sizes

One thing you need to know is that the Chevy Silverado cab configuration you select will limit the bed sizes available to your build. The Silverado Double Cab only comes with the Standard Bed, which is 79.44 inches long. Choose the Crew Cab, and you can get either the Standard bed or a Short bed that measures 69.92 inches long. So the Double Cab gets you a bigger bed, while the Crew Cab gives you the Short bed. You can learn more about the Silverado 1500 bed sizes with this list of specs:

  • Standard Bed Total Volume: 71.7 cubic feet
  • Short Bed Total Volume: 62.9 cubic feet
  • Both beds are 22.4 inches and have a maximum width of 71.4 inches. The width decreases to 50.6 inches at the wheel wells.
  • Short Bed is available with off-road-ready models like the Trail Boss and ZR2.

Silverado Crew Cab vs. Double Cab: Towing/Hauling Abilities

The Chevy Silverado cab configuration you want for Davis jobs will alter the towing and hauling capabilities of your chosen pickup. The Crew Cab models have a greater maximum payload limit, but the Double Cab models have a greater maximum towing limit. However, it’s only a difference of 40 and 100 pounds, respectively. See what we mean by the difference between the Chevy Silverado Crew Cab and Double Cab capabilities with this brief list:

  • The Double Cab and Crew Cab can have either of the Chevy Silverado 1500’s engines.
  • When properly equipped, the Silverado Double Cab can tow up to 13,300 pounds, while the Crew Cab can tow up to 13,200 pounds.
  • The Double Cab can haul up to 2,040 pounds in the bed, while the Crew Cab has a maximum payload of 2,080 pounds.
